Dr. Joseph Schmidbauer is a General Dentist from Oregon, Ohio. In his 35 years of practice, excellence in his patients’ care has inspired him to execute and perfect a level of complete treatment of the patient. He began adding orthodontics in 1983 to offer his patients an alternative to the prevailing orthodontic philosophy that stable treatment often involved removing teeth. His philosophy was that growth and development of the patient should not be reversed by orthodontic treatment coupled with extraction and constriction of the dental arch form. Dr. Schmidbauer soon became a student of Dr. Robert G. Gerety, whose non-extraction philosophy of orthodontic treatment coupled well with Dr. Schmidbauer’s desire to bring excellence in orthodontic treatment to his practice. He has been carefully selected to carry on the most popular GP/pediatric Comprehensive Orthodontic Course in America, taught for 30 years by Dr. Gerety until his retirement in 2009.
Over the years, and in part due to the mentoring and friendship with Dr. Gerety, Dr. Schmidbauer has become a leader in the field of orthodontic education. He is a Diplomate of the American Orthodontic Society (AOS), a past president of the AOS, and an examiner of the credentialing program of the Society.
Dr. Schmidbauer has joined Gerety Orthodontic Seminars to provide Comprehensive Orthodontic Courses to general and pediatric dentists and their staffs. Presently, these courses are taught throughout the year in both Tulsa, Oklahoma and Nashville, Tennessee. He consults with his students and is active in mentoring students through his participation in Gerety Orthodontic Seminars.
